"What do you want, Myra?" growled Janet.
"Huh?" replied Mikey. "My name's Myra?"
Janet hadn't heard the wish, so the wish made him think the new reality was true. He thought Myra had always been female.
"Of course it is," said Janet. Then Janet noticed the rock in Myra's hand. "Myra, come here," he said.
Since Judy had wished that Myra would do what her sister said, Myra obeyed. The obedience wasn't total, but there was no obvious reason for Myra to resist.
"Now, give me that stone," said Janet. Myra reached out and was about to drop the rock into Janet's hand--but this time, she did resist. Wait a minute, thought Myra... didn't I wish that Jon would forget... Oh, no! She's not Jon, she's Janet. That wish didn't do anything! Janet still knows about the rock!
Myra quickly withdrew her hand but not too late for Janet to grab the rock away from her loosened grip. This made Myra begin to panic. What could Janet do now?
"I wish," said Janet, "that you'd really do whatever I asked you to do without any hesitation. Now, Myra, I order you to stay where you are and be quiet. I need to figure out what to do to you."
Myra found she couldn't move any more! There must be something worse coming....
But Mikey had made most of his changes either where Janet couldn't hear, or when he wasn't listening. So Janet didn't know he had been changed; as far as he knew, he had always been named Janet and looked, dressed, and acted like a flat-chested girl. The only part he recognized as a wish was that everyone also thought he was a girl, since Mikey had excluded him from that wish.
So there wasn't a whole lot to punish Myra for, as far as Janet knew. Maybe Myra could get off lightly.
"I wish," said Janet, "that...."
