While the two teenagers each plotting to get the rock from their mother and use it, their mother left the room and set the rock down on the hutch in the dinning room.
Janet wanted to get even with Mikey for what Mikey had done to him. Only to be honest Janet knew that he needed to be careful not to get Mikey doing too outrageous or silly of things as then their mother would notice. Plus, to be honest, Janet wasn't sure what Mikey had done to him. As far as Janet could tell, he was just like he had been for the last several years.
Thus with that constraint on his plans for revenge, and with his trying to figure out how to get the wishing rock back, Janet didn't do anything mean to Mikey. In fact, he was actually nice to Mikey.
Mikey was sure that Janet was asking him to do all sorts of mean and demeaning things. Why else would he be doing these terrible chores that Janet should really be doing.
"Dinner is ready Mother." Janet announced.
Judy was happy that her two children were getting along so well. "I am glad to see that you and your sister are getting, Mikey." Janet told her son.
"It isn't too hard when she doesn't act like she is Queen of the World." Mikey said.
Janet, who heard what Mikey said, felt hurt by what his brother had said about him. 'I don't want to be mean to him.' Janet thought to himself. 'I don't think that I am that mean to him.' He added.
Putting a false smile on his face, Janet walked into the dining room with dinner. "What would you like to drink, Mikey, Mother." Janet asked, trying to be a bit nicer to Mikey.
'She is doing that on purpose to make me look bad.' Mikey thought. 'Sisters are so mean.'
"I'll have water, Janet." Judy said. "Mikey, what do you want to drink?"
Mikey, really mad at his sister, said, "I'd liked chocolate milk."
"I'll see if we have any chocolate mix, Mikey." Janet said, returning to the kitchen to fix his brother a glass of chocolate milk.
Mikey began to plan how to get even with Janet.
