"This shouldn't be that hard." Mikey thought out loud as he opened the drivers door on his mothers car. "Just like driving one of those driver simulators at the arcade." He tried to convince himself.
He eased himself into her seat and set about adjusting the seat and mirrors while he was trying to psyche himself into taking his mom's car, not to mention her body, out for a spin. "Okay," he told his mothers reflection in the mirror, "Just keep it below the speed limit, and don't do anything fancy. It's the same route I've taken a million times with my bike. Ready mom?" He asked her image. "You bet Mikey," he answered himself, "go ahead and burn some rubber."
The engine turned over and Mikey put the car into gear....and two seconds later slammed on the brakes....then had to slam on it again. "Gee forgot about other cars, and mom's shoes aren't helping either." He took her heels off and set them beside his/her purse. "Let's try this again." he shakily told himself in his mother's voice.
Slowly Mikey made his way to his school. "No problem, just go to my class, speak to Ms. Warren and get the rock back. Nothing could go wrong." he nervously told himself.
