Mikey was still trying to decide what he should do, when the little girl he had made his mother stamped her foot. "Michael James Donaldson," she said. "I may be just a little girl, but I am still your mother. Now, do as I say, and turn Karyn into a pig." She seemed to think of something else. "No, turn her into a bank. A little pink piggie bank."
Mikey looked at his mother. She stood with her hands on her hips like she always did when she really meant to be obey. He looked from her to the older girl. "I'm sorry, Karyn," he said, pointing at her.
"Now, Mikey..." Karyn started to say.
"Be a piggie bank."
"Oh, sh..." Karyn immediately shrunk downward, leaving a pile of clothes on the ground.
The little girl hopped with joy for a second before rushing over to the empty clothes. She went through them and pulled out the little porcelian pig that Karyn had become. "Give me a quarter," she said to her son. Mikey pulled a coin from his pocket and gave it to his mother, who dropped it into the slot in the back of the bank. "There," she said, looking into the pig's face. "I'm not mean, Karyn. I just gave you a quarter. And I'll be giving you all my change from now on."
"Mom," Mikey said quietly from behind her, "do you want me to make you big again now?"
Deborah seemed to give it some thought. It was strange being a little girl again. She still had all her adult memories. She remembered going to high school. Marrying the quarterback. Giving birth to Jon and Mikey. And she remembered other things, too. How she had caught her husband with that bitch next door. How he had left her for that cheerleader at the university where he taught history.
However, even though see had the memories of an adult, when Mikey had changed her, she had been given the personality of a little girl. A little girl without the inhibitions of an adult. She didn't see anything wrong with what she had had Mikey do to Karyn. Or Mrs. Higgins next door. She was just behaving like the little girl she was.
"Mom?" Mikey asked again, pulling her from her thoughts.
She looked at him and smiled. "No, Mikey," she told him. "I don't want to be big again. Not yet. First, I want you to call your step-mother and ask her to come over." And she smiled an evil little girl smile.
