" ... a little kid!"
Deborah Ruth Trier Donaldson's body immediately shrank. Everything she wore below the waist slid down to the ground. It didn't matter, though, because the blouse she was wearing was now big enough to cover her all the down to mid-thigh. Not that there was much to cover any more. Her adult figure, still quite nice as far as every man she knew (including a few of Jon's friends) was concerned, was gone. Her dark hair was finer, without the body she'd worked so hard to cultivate over the years. She peaked down her blouse and saw that her bra now hung empty on -- her? -- chest. And, looking up, she saw that Mikey now stood at least a foot taller than she did.
"Mikey," she said. She paused a moment, confused by the voice she now had. Then she continued. "What did you do?"
"I made you a little kid, littler than me," said Mikey. "How would you like it if I gave YOU a spanking now!"
Mrs. Donaldson backed away, and then fell backwards, tripping over the clothes that had fallen from her. She fell square on her bottom. The pain was sharper than she'd remembered from the last time anything like that had happened -- just last winter while skating on the pond. To her surprise, a tremendous misery welled up inside her, and she began to cry. Loudly!
The sight of this little girl, just barely more than a baby, crying in front of him, softened Mikey's heart. Immediately, he stooped over her, hugged her, and patted her gently on the back. "It's okay, Mom. I'm sorry. I'm not going to spank you!"
Amid a few sobs, Little Debbie (got to stop thinking of THAT name, she thought) said "Did you do that to Karyn, too?"
Mikey turned to see what she was looking at and saw the petrified Karyn. "Oh my gosh!" he said. "Be Karyn again!"
Stone gave way to flesh and bone. Karyn looked at Mikey and his mother in astonishment.
"I didn't mean to do it, Karyn," said Mikey. "I don't want you to be a statue!"
"Never mind that, Mikey," said Karyn. "What have you done to your mother!"
"She was going to spank me," said Mikey defensively.
"That's because you were looking in Mrs. Higgins yard when I told you not to!" said Mrs. Trier.
"I was only doing that to change her back!"
"Change her back," said Karyn. "What did you do to her?"
"I tried out my power on her first. Pierre looked like he wanted her to play with him, so I turned her into a poodle, too. And they started playing."
"Playing how?"
"The way dogs play. Remember, Mom? We took care of Pierre once, and he played with my leg."
The little girl who had been crying only minutes earlier suddenly began to laugh. She laughed so hard, she fell again. But this time, she kept on laughing.
"Oh my -- " began Karyn. "Have you changed her back yet?"
"Yeah. And she got mad and kicked Pierre. I was going to turn her into something else, but Mom came out mad at me first."
"Mikey, how can you do these things?" asked his mother, recovering from her laughing fit. At Karyn's insistence, Mikey told his mother the whole story. She stared at him a moment and then said "I want you to show me."
She led Mikey to the hole in the fence, looked through it, and then told him to do the same. She said it was okay, since Mrs. Higgins had her bikini on again. And then, she whispered in Mikey's ear. Mikey repeated what they said.
A voice came from behind the fence, a high-pitched voice like a chipmunk's, saying "Not again! Pierre, no! Bad dog! No! Oh no -- yes! YES!"
"What did you do?" asked Karyn, walking up by the fence. She looked through, and there was Mrs Higgins. At least, from the neck up, she was Mrs. Higgins. But her head was a little smaller and, from the waist down, she was a chihuahua!
"Mom told me to make her like that lady in the movie about Mars attackin'," said Mikey.
"Mrs. Donaldson!"
"Pierre's probably the most loyal and faithful male in her life," said the little girl.
"But what about that other part you told me to say, Mom?" asked Mikey.
"Shhh!!!"
"What other part?"
"Mom said to make Mrs. Higgins a chihuahua lady in heat. What does that mean?" asked Mikey.
"It means your Mom is a mean lady!"
"Don't say that about me! Mikey, turn her into a pig!" said Mrs. Trier.
"What?"
"I promised her I wouldn't unless she asks me to," said Mikey.
"And I won't," said Karyn.
"Mikey, I'm your mother and I say you should make Karyn a pig!"
"Mikey, I think you'd better make your mother a grown-up again."
"I don't wanna be grown-up! I like being a little girl again!"
Mikey wondered what he should do next.
