Sarah quickly whittled down her choices to something that she could easily verify and would probably alarm little Fred, but something that wouldn't allow him to spread panic or scar him for life. For that last reason, as tempting as it was she decided against turning him into her little sister "“ at least not while he was aware!
Sarah ensured the boxes for User, File and Everyone Else were all ticked, and then set about locating the option she wanted. She found a whole tab for hair and dragged one of the sliders far to the right. She guffawed at the updated 3D model of her brother and hit the Save button. A new line appeared in the Log:
User 26: Head Hair Length 0.52m to 21.43m
Immediately Sarah heard her little brother shriek and, laughing, ran to find him.
There was a river of tangled dark hair pouring out of his bedroom doorway. He was evidently trapped inside. Sarah could hear his confused, muffled yelps coming from within but when she peered into his room, she saw only the giant mound of long hair with him buried beneath!
It certainly sounded like he was surprised by this turn of events, but Sarah wanted to make sure.
"You okay, little brother?" she called into his room.
"Sarah, help" she could hear his faint reply, "my hair was like, short and now it's grown really fast!"
Her mother came running up the stairs at that moment, and shrieked in surprise. Satisfied, Sarah left her to it and returned to her room without another word.
Sarah sat in front of her PC and set about repairing her brother. It was also a good opportunity to try out deleting "transactions". She highlighted the last change and hit the Delete button and the last line vanished from her brother's log.
At the same time the commotion coming from her brother's bedroom suddenly fell silent. She didn't bother reverting Fred's other (unaware) changes, not while they were still funny to her anyway.
"Good," Sarah nodded. "Now let's see what this program can really do..."
