Jon couldn't help but notice the look on Karyn's face as she made an evil smile. "Let's try a little experiment."
Karyn carefully set up the blade in the guillotine so it was ready for the next cut.
"What exactly do you have in mind?"
"Well Jon-boy... We already know that this thing is somehow able to cut off a part of your body, but in such a way that you're not actually harmed. This could be fun to mess with, but we should really know what the limits to this thing are."
Jon shrugged in agreement with Karyn. "Who knows? This could be fun," he thought to himself as Karyn walked over to the watermelon that had been sliced in half previously. She studied both halves of the fruit, which looked rather odd considering their outer shells extended to the portion of the watermelon where its insides should be exposed from it being cut in half.
"Now, I just bet you that... There!" After lining the watermelon halves back up and pressing them together, the fruit was once again one whole piece.
"Wow, so this works on more things than just people," Jon said excitedly, "Alright, so that being the case, I wonder just what all we can do with this."
"Yup! So now, there's only one thing left to test. Jon can you sit down and put your feet in the stocks?"
Trusting Karyn, Jon put his feet into the stocks of the guillotine. He knew he was going to be fine, but even having seen the magic firsthand, Jon was still a tad nervous about what was going to happen next.
The metal clanged as it dropped through Jon's ankles. It felt like no more than a pinch, and then suddenly he felt his feet hit the ground.
"I can still wiggle my toes just fine. This is definitely strange."
"Now for the actual tests."
Karyn picked up Jon's dismembered feet and saw that, once again, his skin had sealed over his feet and ankles where the cut had been made. She then attempted to reattach Jon's feet in a number of incorrect ways. Backwards, reversed, it didn't matter, unless Jon's feet were put back in the correct place, they didn't seem to want to reattach.
"That's good at least. I couldn't imagine trying to walk with my feet on the wrong legs."
"True, ok. One more thing Jon. Would you mind sliding onto this stool so you can reach the lever sitting down?"
"Sure what do you have in mind?"
"I'll show you." With that, Karyn looked at about the place where Jon's feet had been cut, and placed her own ankles into the stocks at the same spot.
"Pull the lever."
Again, the guillotine's blade slid home and Karyn's feet hit the ground.
Jon was hovering slightly above boredom as he wasn't exactly sure what the point of neither of them having their feet attached was. "Ok, so now neither of us can walk right."
"Maybe, maybe not." And with that Karyn reached over to Jon's disembodied feet and placed them against her ankles. Not sure of whether or not her test would work, Karyn was shocked as she saw the skin between Jon's feet and her ankles seal together. At the same time, she noticed that the sensations in her old feet disappeared while she could feel Jon's like they were her own.
"What the heck?!" Jon was a tad shocked as he watched Karyn attach his feet to her ankles. "This is so weird. I can't feel my feet anymore Karyn."
"I was about to ask you about that." Karyn got up from the guillotine and starting walked around. "Geez Jon-boy, I feel like I'm walking around in clown shoes."
"At least you CAN walk."
"Oh, right... I'm sorry." Karyn walked over to her feet and handed them to Jon. "There. Be happy I wore sneakers today."
