Taken from writing.com's "The Guillotine" by Smiles. I cannot take credit for this story, but I thought it'd work great here.
As the old man walked into the back of the store, Karyn spied a rather large contraption that looked interesting to her. "Hey Jon, check this out." Jon couldn't help but recognize the rather oversized device as a guillotine. Together they looked over it to see if they could find any information about it.
"Ah, that's a very special guillotine," said the old man who had emerged from the back of the story while they were distracted. He then started to tell you the history about it, how it was created by a noble man during the French revolution to save his life. Karyn wondered how a guillotine could save a man's life but didn't ask the old man to explain what he meant.
Jon had no reason to be as interested in the guillotine, but couldn't help but want to take it home with him. He asked the old man how much the guillotine costs, and he replied, "More than you can afford at the moment, but if you like, I'll let you borrow it for a week and maybe you can impress you friends by slicing up a watermelon. As long as you let them know it is from Franz Joseph Illusions."
Jon thought to himself, "I can borrow it?" He quickly agreed and the old man helped him to load the guillotine into the back of Jon's truck. It was a bit of a tight fit, but Jon's recently acquired 5-year-old truck was able to hold it alright. Together, Jon and Karyn went home to test their new device.
