Jon was back in the same seat he had been during the first half of the show. He watching for Karyn he really wanted to see what she was going to do next. He was still very worried about the way she had been acting in the dressing room during the interval. She was speaking to him in French as if she had always done so. But before they had arrived in the wardrobe room she could barely say her name in French now she was speaking it like she had been born and bred in France instead of Lake Point as he had.
The old man who had sold them The Necklace of Infinite Possibilities said that it was damaged, maybe that could explain how he had ended up dressed as his mom in his kitchen chopping veg. However it did not as far as he could work out explain Karyns' new skill with the French language.
Jon was so lost in his thoughts he hadn't noticed the music start back up as the house lights went down. "Jon you are going to miss Cateline and the girls' dance" Nina said as she elbowed him in the ribs. No matter how many times he heard Nina call Karyn, Cateline he could not get used to it.
He lifted his head to see four twenty something women take to the stage in identical outfits but he could see Karyn on the stage. She was only sixteen like him and these women were clearly older than him and Karyn were. So he turned to Nina and asked her "Where is Karyn? I don't see her" "There is Cateline on the end nearest to us" Nina replied. Jon looked back at the stage and looked at the dancer that Nina had pointed out. That's not Karyn he thought to himself that woman was too old. Then he looked closer at the dancer. She did look a bit like Karyn but older. That couldn't be Karyn could it.
