Jon sighed. "And why is that?"
"You see..." Karyn trailed off. "You see..." Suddenly, her face screwed up in disgust, a flush rising to her cheeks. "I-I'm gonna be sick!"
Jon couldn't help but laugh a bit as Karyn stumbled over to a corner of the dining hall and began to vomit.
"I...I guess that's what...what I deserve for what I...did this morning." Karyn managed between gasps.
"And for drinking all night while I was being forced to try on dresses." Jon reminded her smugly.
"Yeah, yeah."
"Now what were you saying about why we were really here?" Jon asked.
"Right. Just let me rest a bit here." Karyn replied, face becoming slightly amused again as she leaned back against a wall. "As I was say-"
Karyn was cut off when the wall began to give way and vanish, giving only a choked gasp as she stumbled backwards.
"Dara!" Jon shrilly exclaimed, rushing towards the black gap where a segment of wall had once been. I'll never get used to that. He thought. Of course, the magic of the bookmark still forced him to call her by her character's name rather than her own.
Karyn was nowhere to be seen. It seemed she had some how accidentally activated a secret passage that opened onto a dark, descending stair.
"What now?" Jon wondered aloud. He could climb down the passageway after her. She might be hurt if she fell a long distance, but it was awfully dark. Just seeing the steps would be almost impossible. On the other hand, he didn't much like the idea of going for help. For all he knew the local authorities wouldn't be particularly pleased at Karyn's accidental discovery.
