Jon spent the rest of the morning practicing flying and controlling his cape, and worked up quite an appetite by lunch time. Dr. Takeda said that he wanted to make some small adjustments, so he planned to work through lunch. Jon shrugged and headed to the cafeteria. This time he ate some kind of hummus and kale wrap.
On his way back to the training center, he passed by a doorway and heard a male voice coming from inside. It sounded like one of the black-suited men.
"...could endanger the whole Supergirl program! We need to make sure she's fully adjusted before sending her out!"
"With all due respect, sir," replied a female voice. Dr. Bradford, maybe? "We can't risk what happened to Power Girl happening to Jon. If we lose a second subject, the DEO will cut our funding and shut this whole operation down!"
Jon gulped. What should he do? Stay and listen longer? Go into the room and confront them? Or maybe it would be best to just walk away and pretend like he never heard anything.
