Kyla Leeson opened her locker and got out the books that she would need for her first couple of classes. Her first class was history which she shared with her friend Gladys. Kyla had been a bit put out over the weekend ever since Tiffany Sanders and then Zelda Whitefield came into her group and sort of pushed her aside, almost as she no longer existed.
And the way that Josh looked at Tiffany. “Bleugh” Kyla said out loud as she thought about it and shook her head.
After she finished collecting her books, Kyla closed her locker and turned to head towards her class nearly bumping into someone as she did so.
“Woah, watch where you’re going Miss Leeson.”
Kyla blinked. It was coach Owens.
“Sorry coach.” Kyla said as she regained her composure. “I was just thinking.”
Rachel Owens nodded. “I can see that. Anything that I can help you with?”
Kyla shrugged her shoulders.
“It’s just that I was I hanging out with my friends on Friday and then two girls came in and asked to join in. We let them join in but suddenly they seemed to take over the group and kind of pushed me aside.
And then my friends decided to have a sleepover and they didn’t even invite me.” Kyla sniffled a little bit. She hadn’t realised how worked up that she actually got about it.
Meanwhile, Rachel Owens felt sorry for the poor girl. She rather liked Kyla, she was quiet, kind and friendly if what a little shy. As she took in the slightly geeky girl, Rachel came up with a solution.
“You poor thing.” Rachel said placing a hand on Kyla’s shoulder trying to soothe her. “Tell you what. It sounds like you need a bit of confidence in order to stand your ground a bit. I’m holding a weight training session with some of the guys on the football team.
Kyla looked at the coach confused for a moment before she remembered that she had heard that her and coach Williams had switched roles for a while.
“How about you come and see me in the gym after school?
