"You can trust me with it, Karyn. Anyway, you and Jon want to examine it as much as I do and I have the most scientific mind between us. That's why you brought it to me, you and Jon wanted to be my assistants in a research project. You were going to share everything you know about it. Go on," Wallace coaxed the girl before him

He needn't have encouraged her. Wallace was rewarded by an eagerly presented and detailed description of all Karyn knew about the bracelet. She recounted the store and all her statements. Jon expressed doubt about it all her story about his bras and breasts, but Karyn was firm. Wallace tended to believe Karyn's version simply based on the objective evidence presented. Karyn had been trying to recover the bracelet, but was now eagerly assisting his research project.

Wallace was careful NOT to say what he was thinking. 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely'. He thought to himself, I must be very careful what I say.

"It appears that the bracelet only works when the wearer wants the statement to be made truthful. Let me demonstrate. I am wearing a blue tie." Wallace had not wanted to make the change to his tie as this was the control of the experiment. He looked down and was rewarded to see his tie remained the grey one he had donned that morning. He looked back up and noted the jeans and blouse Karyn had worn that day. "Karyn, I like the blue dress you're wearing today."

"Why thank you, Wallace." Karyn responded as she smoothed the front of her flowing blue dress.

Wallace marvelled at his first physical observation of the bracelet's ability. Incredible, he thought. So many possibilities. So much potential for abuse. He briefly considered wished the bracelet to no longer exist, or better yet to wish magic didn't exist. He'd always been comfortable with a logical and scientific world. The introduction of magic into that order was somewhat frightening. Still, even magic must have laws. 'It is my duty as a scientist to ellucidate them thoroughly. And in the process, even a scientist could have some fun during his research.' Still, could even he be trusted with such power? He couldn't help but remember Gandalf's words to Frodo when fervently declining the One Ring- 'I'd use it for good'. Where's a hobbit when you need one?
