As Jay Duncan's calculator glowed (similar to how the wishing stone glowed when a wish was made on it), both Jen and Tiffany began changing subtly. New thoughts began pouring into their heads.
Jen found herself feeling dizzy as she lost a bit of athleticism, but new knowledge poured into her head. Knowledge of the world, both fact and fiction. History, science, and math knowledge poured into her head.
She also had the inexplicable urge to write erotic fan fiction pairing Malcolm Reynolds with Jayne, or Kirk with McCoy. And to cosplay as Faith from Buffy.
Her vision appeared a bit blurry, but she understood now. One look at Tiffany Sanders told her that the former slutty cheerleader turned feminist now understood, too. They were now nerds.
"Thanks, Jay." Tiffany was saying. "What Lisa was putting into our heads was insane, absurd, and anti-intellectual."
Jen nodded. "Yes. I don't know why I was so eager to follow her. Her ways would have through the world into hopeless chaos."
Jay Duncan smiled. "Glad to hear it." he said, as he untied them. "Now, is there anything you need?"
Jen nodded. "I think I need glasses. And I'd look good with a hair scrunchie, don't you think?"
"Definitely." Tiffany said.
Jay Duncan raised an eyebrow. "Unless I'm mistaken, weren't you Jon before Lisa Williams got a hold of you."
"Yeah, but I'm happy being Jen." Jen said. "I'm a fangirl, and I'm proud of it."
"Interesting." Jay said. "Or, as our favorite Vulcan might have put it, fascinating."
--
Soon, Jen and Tiffany's outfits had been adjusted. Jen now looked like a nice, sweet nerd girl in her glasses and hair scrunchie. Tiffany looked a bit pudgier and more pimply, and wore her hair in a ponytail, though she too wore glasses.
A meeting was called to order.
"All right." Jay said. "Lisa Williams' Feminist-Extremist faction was forced to abandon their base, but I'm sure they're out looking for new recruits. So are we. The Jocks and the Preps are our main targets, but since we're not as athletic as they are, we need to overcome them with superior intelligence and greater numbers. So we need to at least gather more recruits than the Jocks and the Preps, though we have to be careful about the other factions as well."
Jen spoke up. "What about Karyn? She got recruited by the Preps."
Jay nodded, sympathetically. "I know how you feel, Jen. I have a friend I'm missing, too. Kyla Leeson got recruited by the Jocks. But unless we can find a way to separate them from the large groups of their current cliques, we won't be able to recruit either of them to our side."
"Still, we're the smart ones." Jen said. "If we work together, we're bound to come up with some good ideas to reduce their numbers and increase ours. Let's talk strategy for a while."
And so, the Nerds spent the next few minutes doing just that.
Elsewhere in the neighborhood, and at the school, the other factions were busy at work...
