Ok....well the way I see it she came across the border in 2017 with her sister Zoe, their parents were killed in drug land violence and they have just had this harrowing trip from Nicaragua to the Border, neither speaks any English yet, and they get to the border and then they end up in this camp awaiting whatever, and while that happens, Julia's listening to the guards and the TV the people around her, until one day like 5 months into the ordeal to be let into the country she starts to tell off the judge in English, except she has a Texas southern accent because that's how she's heard English spoken and this makes the whole court room laugh, and the judge decides to remand Julia into the custody of one Linda Gibson, who is basically a bleeding heart liberal 22 year old who is just trying to get people out of this insane system. Trick is Zoe can't come, because that's the policy, and Julia never see's Zoe again.
Skip ahead a few years, Linda is starting a job as a school counselor, they have spent the past few years looking for Zoe but have had no luck, and not only is Linda insisting that Julia finish High School this year, but they had an agreement that eventually they would settle down so that life could start and so reluctantly Julia has allowed herself to settle at Lake Point. Linda even let Julia pick they place they put down roots and Julia had picked this place.
She still talks with southern accent by the way, particularly when she's around other people, life has taught Julia it's important to be liked and to fit in, and for some reason everyone seems to like the accent so she does it, even though when she's alone talking with Linda she talks normal. Linda might be the only person she trusts by the way but they don't have a great relationship, and it's more big sister little sister than parents with her, at least through Julia's eyes, though Linda definitely disagrees and risks quite a lot for her ward.
So who is Juila then? She's smart, she's pretty, she's not just exotic, she's experienced, she's seen the world and been on adventures and she's practiced on making people like her, she's almost like a con woman, a too good to be true type person, at least that's what Sarah will think because those two are going to HATE each other. Think the Daniel Plainview Milkshake scene from "There will be Blood" Juila comes in and she starts disrupting everything, taking all the stuff that was Sarah's and in a lot of cases giving it to Karyn, because as much as she hates Sarah she seems to really like Karyn, and they become friends but in a sort of "My fair lady" sort of way with Juilia trying to prop Karyn up as the new hotness in school along with herself, so that will be Karyns arch.
Now for sweeps I think we bring Zoe back into the picture because not only can do a guest star for Zoe, I'm thinking something along the lines of the girl from that Wednesday show, but then also we reveal that Zoe is 17, which is a problem because she's the younger sister, and eventually Sarah is going to use this to work out that Julia is in fact going to turn 20 right before they are all supposed to graduate. She's been lying and saying she's 17 the whole time when really she's been 19. So that leads to a blackmail story, or maybe an outed story, I'm not sure it's a bad idea to write that far out but I think that's a nice twist....OH and one more thing I think I know why she likes Karyn so much...
Johnson I said talk not write a whole season of TV for us geeze....
