"It shouldn't be this hard," David told himself. But it was. He'd been standing there for at least twenty minutes, maybe more, trying to make up his mind. The rest of Hillsburg was probably facing the same dilemma at this moment, but he had no way of knowing - his bedroom door was locked shut. He figured it wouldn't open again until he'd made a choice. He just had to make sure it was the right one.

He hadn't noticed it when he first awoke, but once he'd scanned his room it stood out like a sore thumb. Right next to his closet was another set of identical doors, somehow fitting without making the room bigger. It made his head hurt if he thought about it too much. He'd climbed out of bed and walked over to the closets, and noticed a note stuck to the wall between them.

"One is yours. One is not. Choose wisely."

And sure enough, once David opened them, it was clear that they were two very different closets. One was sparsely filled with jeans, khakis, t-shirts, a few dress shirts, and a suit. There were a few pairs of shoes on the floor, but nothing crazy.

The second closet, however, was packed to the brim. Though the doors were the same, it was much deeper, a walk-in closet. Dresses, skirts, blouses and more hung on every rack, arranged meticulously by style and color. Shelves were lined with countless accessories, and any remaining space was filled with shoes. Every color and style imaginable, but none with a heel shorter than four inches. The two closets could not be more different from one another.

Problem was, David had no idea which one was his.

"Dammit, Gilmore!!" he cursed out loud. Somehow the most basic information about the kinds of clothes he was supposed to wear was completely missing from his brain. How was he supposed to make the right choice this way? But he wasn't getting out of his room until he chose something. There had to be a way of thinking this through

He looked down at himself. He was definitely still a guy. So that meant... loose fitting jeans and a t-shirt? Was that right? He looked into that closet. There wasn't a whole lot there - barely enough for a full week without doing laundry. And he hated doing laundry - he could remember that much. So it would make sense for his wardrobe to be bigger.

He looked into the other closet. He couldn't even see the back of it, it was so huge! If these were his clothes he could go a month -maybe more- without having to wear the same thing twice. But some of the colors were downright bold. And a lot of the outfits seemed like they'd show an awful lot of skin. Was he normally that flashy? He looked back at the first closet. It all looked a lot more comfortable, but also kind of boring. Was he supposed to be boring?

And the shoes. The shoes in the big closet looked like they required some coordination just to get around in. And David was in pretty good shape. Did he normally walk around in such high, pointy heels? Maybe. After all, his family was pushing him to find a job - shoes and outfits like this would definitely make him look like he cared about his appearance, and his future. That made sense. This was starting to make sense.

David took a deep breath. "Alright, let's try this." He reached into the closet and pulled out a short red dress. He held it up against his body. It looked to be his size, at least. It certainly didn't feel wrong. But he wasn't sure if it felt right. Maybe if he tried it on - maybe that would help him remember.
