Gladys was picked up by a your classic black van full of men in black hazmat suits. She was easy to subdue, in part because she wasn't feeling too great, but also because she was so fat that there was very little chance she could run very far, she never stood a chance.

"Subject's last interaction with patient x was exactly 25 minutes ago, she's still contagious for another 35 minutes gentlemen, no taking a breather till then." said one of the men, who you would assume was in charge.

The van pulled around the zig zagged through the city, as if lost, but also to be sure that it wasn't being followed, and while this happened the men in the black hazmat suits like a gaggle of scavengers over a found carcass they set upon her, one working on the teeth, the other clipping her nails (only on her left hand), another taking the samples of blood, skin and hair. She was of course made unconscious before any of this, as a professional curtesy, as these men clearly were professionals. Once this work was done, with the efficacy of a formula one pit crew, pictures were taken, and notes.

"Subject: Gladys Brewer. Pre Standard records. Height: 5 foot 8 inches Weight: 220 Hair: Tweed brown undyed. curly. (one blue strain added) Eye color: Brown. Eye shape: droop Glasses: 4.5L 4.0R Nose: WN09
mole on left cheek, no freckles, fair skin. 30% Polish, 40% Scottish, 20% various. Breast size: 42D Waist: 40 inches Hips 41 inches. Age 16, Virgo. GPA 3.4

The file went on like this in ways that made you realize that the information age truly is a nightmare, and that nothing about us isn't known. They didn't just know her shoe size, they knew the way her feet indented on her shoes, and what that told them about how she walked and her gait.

Finally the car pulled into the usual non descript warehouse that everyone assumes that a black van like this is either on it's way to or from. They were met by more men in white hazmat suits.

"Is she sweating yet?"

"No, 44 minutes from exposer, breathing is normal, temperature 101 and rising. Full work up has been completed and is ready for analysis "

"Good get her in then, we don't have much time."

And so she was carted off to a secure room full of medical devices and blinking lights. The table was the center of the room, set up with cameras all around it, as well as lights pointing directly at it from various angles. Even as large as Gladys was she didn't take up all of the table, where she was placed on a special sheet and various tubes were connected to her.

"Rush the angio, we need to spray her down before the sweating starts."

and suddenly and violently Gladys was stabbed in the heart with a large syringe.

"Leave the blood, there isn't time! Begin application!" And with that he brought out a sort of shampoo and started massaging it into her hair. They placed contacts on her eyes, but they weren't contacts for they seemed to dissolve seconds after hitting her sleeping eyes. Then something akin to a spray tan was applied over her her whole, now naked body, though in different colors as it went over various parts of her frame, so that she looked like a patchwork person by the time it had covered her.

"Sir, the sweating has begun, she's at 105." A man at a monitor stated.

"Very well, start the count down for all clear but I still want full hazmat when in contact with the subject." A light switched from red to yellow.

"We have her blood work back, she's AB-, prediabetic." an eager inter shared with the man who appeared to be in charge.

"Fine." the man who appeared to be in charge muttered in response, most if not all his attention elsewhere.

"The time is 9:32, we have applied the genetic mixture to all surfaces of the subject and have injected bio monitors into the chest cavity. Our goal is to find out if PX490 has preference for any particular genetic markers. Most people only possess a limited number of them within their genetic code, it is our hope that by giving the disease a full selection of markers we might be able to ascertain its behavior visa vi dominate and recessive genes, cancer or other health risks. We are also monitoring mass loss, as the subject is approximately 60 pounds overweight and we expect substantial mass loss, we'd like to know where all that mass is going, which is currently a mystery.
The subject has been given a pre wash of various hair traits, contacts containing blue, grey, and green eye color traits, and has been covered in a protein bath containing various trait markers absent in her code including various skin tones, various eye and nose shapes, metabolisms, body shapes, and a couple of genetic conditions currently not found in the subjects code. The hope is during the cocoon phase, these traits will be taken in and "considered" in the transformative process. For all we know we might get a black lady with white hair and blue eyes out of this, or it might proceed as normal and the subject will come out with the usual increased attractiveness.

"Sir, she's already down 10 pounds!" the excited intern interceded.

"Water weight, who's in charge of keeping her hydrated! Do your jobs people!"

The cocoon was starting to form around Gladys, what would come out only time will tell.

In the mean time, as it does take a moment for all of this to happen, I'd like to take you inside of Nadine's mind next, as she undergoes her transformation, because their is more going on then you would guess under that slick surface.
