Jon heard a murmuring coming from behind him. He spun around, and breathed a huge sigh of relief to see his father sitting on the couch. No skirt, no makeup, and not acting like some prissy teenage girl. In fact, it looked as though he was waking up from a nap. He yawned and stretched.

"Oh, hey Jon," he mumbled as he rubbed his eyes. "I must have dozed off there. I had the strangest dream..."

"Oh yeah?" Jon said curiously.

"Yeah, I was... I was back in school. But something was different," he paused for a moment, as though he was trying to recall a dream that was slipping away. "Sorry, I can't quite remember many details." Jon just shrugged, and his dad got up from the couch. "Well, I guess I've had enough TV for one night." And with that, he left the room.

Jon sighed again. Seeing that nobody was around, Jon quickly unplugged the TV, then ran up to his room with the remote in his hand. I've gotta figure out what's going on before anybody else tries watching TV in this house, he thought. He picked up the stone.

"I wish I knew what was happening," After a second, words formed in his head. There was no voice, but he could have swore he detected a hint of sarcasm somehow. Your wish... came true... Jon rolled his eyes. He tried to think of something more specific.

"I wish that the televisions, in this house or elsewhere, would stop pulling people into the programs." Jon felt a twitch in his eye, and turned on his TV. He watched, and watched... and nothing happened. But it could have been just the TV downstairs in the first place, Jon reasoned to himself.

He scooped up the remote again and headed downstairs. Zoe was gone, and his parents were busy trying to get Mikey to go to bed, so luckily nobody was around the living room. He plugged the TV back in, and hit the power button. He clutched the remote tightly with one hand, the other at the ready, as though he was aiming a gun, to cut the power at the first sign of trouble.

Jon watched as the screen fired up, and he saw that some other teen drama was now on. He stood and watched, and waited. Soon, a minute had passed, then two, then five. Jon relaxed a bit. Nothing was happening. Content that the television was behaving itself again, he powered it off and went to his room.

He flopped onto his bed. Disaster averted, Jon thought. He looked over to the stone. I really need to be more careful, he thought as he settled off to sleep.
