Once the explaining was done with we stayed in our room. The next day cycle on the ship came around, and we heard a voice coming from an announcement system. It was pretty loud and the voice was pretty mechanical. The voice announced that Indigo Glint, Glow, Shine, Beam and Flash as well as me, Onyx Blaze and Pitch Gleam were all called to meet on the training field. None of us knew what was going on, but I was really concerned. We hurried out because the last thing we needed was to be late to whatever it was. When we got there, the commanders that watched over the training session standing in wait for us. There were a couple of Red sub entities and a trio of Yellow sub entities there as well. The commanders told us that we were requested by Dr. Wendy Greenblatt to assist them with their research. "As you can tell, this request is highly unusual. If it were not for the dire situation we find ourselves in, we would refuse outright. Normally, we would only have Researchers deal with the humans. Even the fact they could cite youngling monikers denotes a big security issue."
My first reaction was shock. I did not expect things to be so easy. I already had a direct connection to one of the people that could get us a settlement. "We have added a squad of elite Warriors to go along with you. Do not give secrets of our inner workings or true numbers. Don't not show you ability to fuse or expel energy. Just do as they ask and return." one of the commanders said. We nodded and gave a salute. We then made our way there. We would be meeting them at the bay with the coupling hallway. The new comrades that we had were Scarlet Vrio, Crimson Blot, Yellow Nueft, Yellow Mog, Yellow Sucs. Since they were in higher castes, they actually got good and unique names. They did not want to talk to us. Classic elitism. Once we got down there, Dr. Wendy Greenblatt and her guards were standing on her side of the glass windows. "Hello. I wanted to see you after coming up with a series of tests. I understand that you are warriors and might not be able to help with certain aspects, but it might yield some interesting results." she said. She then up started the tests. It was easy.
Clearing them was not hard at all. She had 3 tests for us. There was a photosensitivity test where they shined lights of increasing intensity in our eyes. They did not have a light strong enough to for us. She wrote something on a clipboard and smiled. They then gave us a UV radiator via the hallway. When we got it to our side, she said "I did not think of this test. This is just to satisfy a question that I and Dr. Ian Winchester, the chief medical officer of this base had. If any adverse effects begin to occur, you can turn it off and the test will stop. We value your safety." When we turned it on, the UV rays then spread throughout the area. I could actually see steam like tendrils come from it as it did. I guessed that I could see it now that I was an alien species. For some reason or another, it felt really good. Onyx Blaze began to shift from side to side. "This thing feels... really good." they said. I nodded and saw others were feeling nice as well. It seemed the lower castes were more affected than the higher castes were. "... It's nice." Scarlet Vrio offered. "I feel like... I'm going to sprout." Onyx Blaze said.
Yellow Mog looked at them and said "Keep them in. No one here wants to see a Black's tentacles." Pitch Gleam and I felt the same way Onyx Blaze did. As a 17 year old teenage boy in real life, I knew exactly how to describe a bit of the current feeling I was experiencing. It was the same feeling as trying not to get hard in class. However, it was like a permanent semi. My lower back was tingling and I could feel the tentacles stirring just under the surface. If I wanted to, I could probably sprout or keep them down. Fighting a boner could be difficult and very embarrassing, but you could have some control over it. Mind over matter and all that. This would not be a good thing in a human scenario but, if everyone sprouted, it would be a bit easier to deal with. The Reds and Yellows were not going to do that in front of us. After a half hour, the test ended and we could turn off the machine. We all gave her honest answers to her many questions. The third test was to create more things for them. "Please do your best on these 4 items." she said. The Reds and Yellows were not able to make functional radios.
Light bulbs, gas masks and laptops were next. Like with the radios, we had varying degrees of success copying them. All things must come to an end and the tests were no different. It eventually came to an end and we were allowed to keep the UV radiator. "There is a knob on the radiator. The instructions that I gave you was for the very lowest setting. If you move it more in the clockwise- or right- direction, the intensity of UV radiation will increase up to 3 times. I hope you can enjoy it. The rest is up to you." she said as she wrote more on her clipboard. When they left us, it was clear that we were dismissed. The Reds went to the radiator. "This will look really nice in our room when we get it back." Crimson Blot said to Scarlet Vrio with a smile. "I think it will be pretty nice. I hope that the human wasn't lying though. I want to set it on the highest setting and see nice how it feels." Scarlet Vrio added. Of course the Reds would claim the radiator. They were in the highest caste after all. Not even Onyx Blaze was crazy enough to oppose their will. Since it was heavy, they fused up and took it away.
