As he tried to remember what he was forgetting, Jon strolled into the kitchen; He glanced at the fridge and opened it.
"Of course, we need milk" he said to Linda as she walked in, "and for some reason I think I need to get some food for a party tomorrow" He added. Linda walked over to a calendar hanging on the wall.
"Looks that way honey" she said, pointing to the letters BBQ in beg red pen on the next day's square.
"Right, well you stay here with Karyn and Mikey, I'll take Susan with me." Jon said reaching for a handbag that was sitting on the counter-top. Linda nodded,
"I'll see what I can rustle up for dinner while you're gone." She said.
"It's ok, you just relax, and I'll fix something when I get home" Jon smiled, feeling a little surprised that he'd turned down the offer.

A few moments later Jon and Susan stepped out the front door, Jon now wearing a simple knee length black coat and Susan in a larger version of a child's jumper, a blue furry thing with a monster face on the front, and a hood with fur ears on the top.

"I feel stupid" she muttered as they walked over to a small family sedan sitting in the driveway. Jon strapped Susan into a large car-seat in the back, and then got into the driver's seat. Jon had never learnt to drive, but somehow he knew exactly what to do as he turned on the ignition and pulled out of the driveway.

It was a fifteen minute drive into the main town, and Jon instinctually found a small supermarket. He parked the car up and got Susan out of the car.

"I'm not going in there looking like this" she grumbled.

"Now don't be silly Sus Simon" Jon said, correcting himself, "We have to be quick or the shop will close." He added, grabbing her hand and pulling her along. Susan was surprised at the fact she let Jon hold her, let alone following behind him meekly. Once inside they wound their way up and down the aisles, picking up meats and various vegetables. All in all they took a good half hour before they reached the checkouts. It was there Susan spied the magazine rack, normally her eyes would have been drawn to fashion, or gossip section, but now she found herself eyeing up the comics on the bottom shelf.

"Joooon," she said innocently, "Can we get one of those?"

"Not today S..Simon, we're in a hurry" Jon replied.
"But But" Susan was shocked that she felt genuinely upset at being told No.
"No buts, maybe next time if you're good" Jon said softly, causing Susan to sniffle and nod quietly.
