Whoops, sit down at tables. In restaurants for example, there’d be difficulty navigating though close-together tables without knocking things over. Or, as I was sorta trying to get at, being unable to cross one’s legs under a low table—there’s just not the room.

I usually keep descriptions like this kinda-vague, partly because strict measurements aren’t my thing, partly to leave creative freedom for anyone wanting to follow up—so no worries there about getting it wrong. That said, I was envisioning that Sue still has a relatively slender upper body, but hips wide enough to be genuinely inconvenient; I’ve known girls who’ve struggled to wear pants or sit under tables, and wanted to channel that. So... Hips wide as they could possibly be, without delving into the realm of being unnatural or unattractive? (Sorry I can’t be more precise)

It’s exactly that! And it occurs when the holder tries making a wish.

This almost acts like the normal stone, in that wishes are retroactive and only noticed by those present to hear them. However! Instead of granting the wish of the holder, it’ll grant wishes from any other branch, as if the holder made it. Make sense? I hope it’s not too convoluted.

I especially love the set up for Simon getting wish privileges later, especially since it’s Jon who might be stuck dealing with it.

Those are really good points. I've been meaning to do some self-study for a good while now--but kept putting it off in favor of writing these other ideas. It'd definitely make for a good change of pace, so I'll focus on that next chapter. Thanks a bunch you two!

I’m really loving everything you’ve done so far—you’re hitting all the beats I had in mind with the starting episode, and then some. Whichever direction you end up going will probably be as good as your past posts, so I wouldn’t worry too much about alienating the audience. I’m honestly considering adding an episode myself, if it’s alright.

If it's already mandated by the genre, then I'll leave it as is. There is a funny contrast between oversexed characters and fairly pg plotlines--which is all I was gonna pull out of the erotica, of course. Anything too sex-related is a definite no-go, especially when the characters aren't doing it willingly.

I didn't even think about how a potential romance between the two is ruined by their unwanted family dynamic. Crap, that could be hilarious. As for the bookmark, I treating it as taking on as many traits from the one book as possible (because that's all Jon and Karen used it on)... But with a twist. I'm not quite sure how to reveal it yet, but I'm thinking that the bookmark may have "remembered" a few traits from the book its last owner used it on: an erotica.

Thanks! I'm pretty satisfied with this chapter; per the tell-not-show rule of all good-bad literature, none of the skills Edea was listed of having will ever be made relevant. As for Karyn, I'd thought I could make her a good contrast to Jon. If one’s gonna be the passive female protagonist with the agency of a lamp, the other’s gonna be a ridiculous self-insert with infuriatingly little personality. I’m also considering having Karyn be queer, just to bully her with the “only straight white people in fantasies” trope. What are your thoughts?

I submitted a few edits on the “day in the life of the Queen” episode to make it fall more in line with how you developed the story.

It's been an absolute delight reading your addition to the story. Especially how you turned my offhand remark on a human diplomat into a full on plot point; I can imagine this storyline turning into quite the headache for the two unwilling protagonists.

Well geez. This is, quite frankly, amazing. Looks like I'll have to step up my writing game to maintain this level of quality. May I ask what scene you were hoping to do next? I just got started with writing Allaria's romantic rendez-vous, but will gladly hand the reigns over to you if you have something in mind. The only scene I feel particularly attached to writing is the initial interaction between Jon and Karen--I have some fun plans for that one.

You're dead on. It's a weird feeling, trying to make something both clichéd and predictable, yet somehow not boring. I'm not gonna lie, I'm having a lot more fun writing this than I expected. If I get too invested, I just might have to make a full-fledged story out of it for some other platform.

I’d like to have Jon and Karen realize that since elves don’t have weeks in their calendar, they’d be stuck there quite a bit more indefinitely than originally anticipated. They’d try to figure some other way to make it out, which might be possible, considering they’re in a magic setting. Problem is, the story keeps pushing them into different directions then what they’d need to do, and they’re stuck acting as characters who—while caring about one another other—REALLY don’t get along. (Please feel free to contribute; I only have this general idea, and would love to work with other people and their own takes on the story)

It's funny that you say that, because I was honestly trying to follow your writing style! The bookmark/fantasy world storyline has been my favorite on the site for years, and I've always been bummed to see it receive as little attention as it does.
