Sarah didn't know anything about the magical properties of the bracelet. But she did what she would do when she could get away with it, and claimed the bracelet as her own. "It's my bracelet!" she said.
Which, of course, immediately became the truth. "Of course, it's your bracelet," said Jon.
"Yeah," Karyn said to Jon. "Too bad we didn't get a chance to get that bracelet away from her before she bought it."
Karyn, now believing the bracelet was Sarah's but still worried enough about what Sarah might do with it, tried to grab Sarah's arm, but Sarah, who was a cheerleader and quite agile, easily dodged. "I said, it's mine. Don't you know that stealing is bad?"
"Of course. I don't know what came over me. Sorry, Sarah. I didn't mean to steal it from you," Karyn said.
"Why do you want this thing so bad?" she asked.
Karyn decided not to tell her it was magic. If she knew that, she's probably start changing things. She could still change things without knowing, but it would be worse if she did.
"No reason. It just looks pretty." It was all Karyn could think of.
