"You're my next door neighbor." Karyn said.
"That's so weird! I know I used to live a block away, but I also remember living next door to you." Jon exclaimed. "I know what my house looks like next to yours. I know what my room is like, even though it's different than it was. It all seems so normal!"
"Hmmm... If everything seems perfectly ordinary to you, it's rather anticlimactic. There's no new experience effect." Karyn pondered. "I know ! From now on your memories will not be altered by any changes I create unless I specifically say otherwise."
"Good, because I don't want you messing with my sense of self." Jon declared.
"How else can you fully experience the thrill of the change? Now let's test it." Karyn said while taking a coin out of her purse.
"Wait a minute, just what do you have in mind?"
"I was thinking something more dramatic and with a bit of chance. Something like Heads you're 10 years older, Tails you're 10 years younger. Or maybe Heads you're 6 inches taller, Tails you're 6 inches shorter. Or how about a profession, Heads you're a buff firefighter, Tails you're a ... umm ... a belly dancer.
"Now wait a minute, some of those would be OK I guess. That is all the Heads choices, but I think I'll pass on the Tails options."
"Ah, but that's what makes it interesting." Karyn said. "When this coin is tossed, its face up upon landing will determine your change. You can call the category. So what'll it be; Age, Height, or Profession? Karyn said as she tossed the coin spinning into the air.
