It occurred to Jon that this must be one of the loopholes that can be used to fix wishes. If you wish to be clean, and you jump in the mud, you'll still get dirty. It's not reversing the wish.

Apparently, changing into a boy this way didn't count as reversing the wish either, any more than wishing for a puddle of mud.

Which led to the wish. "I wish that people think my clothes were transformed by the machine but I was not, therefore giving them a reason to think the clothes aren't out of the ordinary. And I wish nobody else heard that."

"Heard what, Jon?" replied Melissa.

"Uh, nothing," replied Jon. "Nobody heard it, anyway. So do I have to wear this stuff all day? I hope not!"

"You know it takes a week before it can transform things a second time!" said the teacher. "Besides, your part in this was to be transformed for a week. So even if you go home to change, I'll have to take points off your final grade."

Oh no, thought Jon... He forgot that the wish was to wear the clothes all the time. The wish was obviously flexible--for one thing, it was worded to say he had to wear skirts and he didn't have a skirt on--but even if it didn't really make him wear them forever, it seemed to be making him wear them "all the time" for the next week.

"Is there, uh, anything I can do if I don't want to be a crossdresser?" replied Jon.

"I have it!" exclaimed Tim. "Change yourself into a girl! That way you're not a crossdresser." He pushed Jon towards the machine. "Right, Teach?"

The teacher said "That would be acceptable."

Jon entered the tube and felt dizzy. Once again, Jon was a girl, the only difference being that people remembered that he was transformed.

"Easy come, easy go," he muttered.
