The other mermaid had a great head start and was already out of visual range, but Joan had already homed in on her using her "fish sense" and she was well on her way to catching up with her.

"Damn. That other mermaid is like grease lightning. She rockets back and forth through the water with almost no effort. I guess that's because she was born and raised as a mermaid, she's had years to perfect her swimming ability while I'm still trying to get my 'sea legs'."

Joan sensed that the mermaid she was pursuing had stopped, pulled a quick
u-turn, and was now swimming back towards her at great speed.

"What's she doing?"

The mermaid quickly came into Joan's view and continued to swim towards her at great speed. Joan came to a sudden stop so that she wouldn't collide with her. The mermaid darted above Joan at the last second and reached behind her grabbing her sea shell bra strap. The mermaid gave it a little tug and the bra came off, letting Joans breast flop out in the process.

"You are so slow," said the mermaid as she twirled around Joan's sea shell bra, "I've never met anyone as slow as you are. I'm surprised that you've managed to avoid the fishing nets for so long with moves like yours. You're lucky that you haven't been captured and put in an aquarium or a can of tuna by now."

"Well to be honest I wasn't born a mermaid like you, I got changed into one today by...magic," responded Joan rather sheepishly.

"So you are a surface dweller," replied the mermaid who tossed Joan back her top, "no wonder you are so clumsy and awkward. So what manner of magic changed you and why. Did you upset some wizard or other spellweaver? Was this supposed to be some kind of punishment for you, because if you ask me you are alot better off like this than as some stupid, smelly, hateful surface dweller."

"Oh no, in fact my friend changed me into a mermaid because she thought that it would be a cool experience for me." Joan snatched the top back but was reluctant to put it back on, seashells didn't exactly make the most comfortable of bra material. "My friend isn't a witch or anything like that. She used a magic wishing stone to change me into this form until four o'clock this afternoon. Say, do you have a name that I can call you? I mean, do mermaids even have names if I may ask? Oh, my name is Joan, but you can call me Jon." Joan stretched her hand out hoping that the mermaid knew what a handshake was.

"Yes, we do have names. Everyone and everything has to have a name. Mines Urma." Urma reached out and grabbed Joan's hand to pull herself closer, she then kissed Joan fiercely on the lips. Apparently mermaids have different greetings than surface dwellers. "But we don't bother giving names to something as meaningless and uncontrollable as the passage of time. So I assume that you mean when you sun is at it's orangest when you say four o'clock. That's not much time at all to show you all that you need to see and experience. The sights, the wonders, the smells, the tastes, the pleasures that define our very existence. Not to mention the fact that I was hoping that you could be my new playmate." Urma seemed to be most depressed over the fact that Joan wasn't going to be around to be her friend after today.

"Well, could you show me some of those things I guess?" Joan empathized with Urma, who seemed to be fairly lonely. Maybe that explained her initial playfulness towards her.

"Of course," exclaimed Urma, "who knows, you might even decide to wish yourself into a mermaid permanently once you've seen what I've got to show you."
