"Thank God you're ok. I'm so sorry" Megan said as Nick sat up. He stood up for a minute, but was still a little dizzy from the concussion and sat back down.
"That's ok, but how about you let me change back now that you see how dangerous this can be" Nick replied. Megan thought for a moment and decided he was right. She went into her bedroom and got the medallion from her hiding spot. She also grabbed one of Nick's socks and headed back to the bathroom where she set them down near him.
Without getting up, Nick reached over and touched the sock with one hand and the medallion with the other and waited.
The medallion glew for a second then stopped. Nothing else happened.
"What's wrong?" Megan asked when she saw Nick wasn't changing or growing yet.
"I don't know" Nick said, standing up and lifting the medallion on its side to study it. At his current size, the top of the medallion came up to his waist. He also saw very small writing, even for him etched into the ridges. The language was something he had never seen yet somehow was able to read. It was the instructions on the note he had read. Someone must have translated them. As he rolled the medallion he noticed a line that wasn't on the note. Shocked, he dropped it and fell to his knees sobbing.
"What's wrong" asked Megan, squatting and bringing herself eye level to the counter. Looking up at her, with tears in his eyes he said, "There was a disclaimer on that medallion. It says 'Will not work on magical creatures' which includes fairies. I'm stuck like this"
