Late For the Big Game

The computer screen hanging on their wall, striped by light through the closed Venetian blinds, buzzed at them. Jon tried to ignore it but couldn't concentrate. The moment had been lost. He heard Karyn give an annoyed sigh beside him.
Jon turned to the screen, smacked the green button, and said, "What?" The room flooded with blue light and a woman's face appeared, looking at Karyn.
"Karyn, you're late! Get to the stadium -- warmup is almost over!" A corner of the screen showed a stadium where two teams of people in hardsuits, in a riot of shapes and colors, leaped and ran.
Karyn said, "What? I -- who are you?"
Jon whispered, "Your boss. Sylia." While Karyn faked her end of the conversation, Jon pondered. He'd written one line saying, "Karyn has a crazy boss named Sylia," just as a supporting character for the prank he played. Apparently that had given Karyn a job and a reason to have a suit of expensive robotic armor. What else had he created with that one line?
The screen went dark, making it hard to see Karyn's expression as she said, "I'm a star athlete. Did you do that?"
Jon explained what he'd written. Karyn shrugged. "Great. I don't even know what the sport is."
"And you can't wear the suit. Did you tell your boss --"
She stamped the floor. "She said, 'Then abort it and get over here!' That must mean there's a quick way, but -- ugh! That callousness!"
"Well, you're not pregnant, really. Not outside the context of this story setting."
Karyn paced, looking to the suit, taking a skeptical glance at the room's transformative equipment (which in a way was less dangerous than the stone), and finally stopping in front of Jon. "Let's get out of here for now -- unless you want to play this game in my place?"
