Karen and Jon (who looked exactly like Karyn in Jon's clothing, which happened to be the problem just at that moment) heard a pair of firm-yet-gentle knocking sounds at Karyn's door. "Karyn, honey, are you two okay in there?"
"We're fine mom, just-"
"Are you sure? I saw you left the breast pumps in the kitchen, and thought you might be needing them by now? Especially after PE and all..."
Karyn considered it, "I guess I do kinda need it."
"Alright. And what about Joan? Or are you Joan?"
Jon looked like a deer caught in the headlights as she mouthed out the foreign name, "Joan?"
Thinking quickly, Karyn agreed, "Yeah, I guess he could help..."
"Well, alright, just unlock this door and I'll give them to you. But dear, you really should get into the habit of referring to her properly; to help her adjust, since it is permenant... poor dear."
Wide eyed and with no little trepidation, Karyn walked over to the door and unlocked it, quickly afterward opening it to allow her mother in.
When Karyn's mother saw Jon, her eyes widened, and then a 'knowing mother' smile replaced the look, "I see you forgot you would expand again... Joan, right?" She could only guess by the style of clothes the girl she was looking at was actually Joan and not her daughter. Though it embarrassed her to have to rely on such unreliable cues to pick out her own daughter... Jon and Karyn had spent nearly their entire lives together and it seemed they knew each other seemingly as well or even better than she knew her own daughter, and they'd even managed to fool her once or twice.
Jon blushed bright red and rubbed the side of her head with embarrassment. Indeed, he, or rather she now, really hadn't realized that she would expand so much, or at all, for that matter.
As Karyn's mom gave the two girls two breast pumps each, she smiled and started teasing the two of them, "I just can't get over that you managed to give poor Joan your Sodajerk virus. If you two could only have waited just two weeks more!" She shook her head slowly, "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I don't know whether to be overjoyed or ashamed! Even now that I've got two lovely young daughters, and grandchildren on the way! Oh my!"
"Mooom!!" "Mrs. Donaldson!!" The stereo cry counded almost like it might have been rehearsed, making both girls blush in sync as well.
Mrs. Donaldson, Karyn's mom, smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry for teasing. But I hope that this teaches you two to pick your cherries much more carefully from now on!"
At this, Karyn blushed, Karyn's mom smiled motherishly, and Jon just looked confused.
"Mooom!"
"I'm done, I'm done!" Karyn's mom made warding gestures as she backed out of the room, and then turned to go down the hall with a wink at Jon. She was glad that she could tell them apart after just a bit of teasing, it was so reassuring...
Jon, who was apparently now called 'Joan', looked at Karyn, "What did she mean about cherries?"
"You don't want to know." The finality in Karyn's voice told Joan that she really didn't want to know.
"Okay, but I would like to know about this 'Sodajerk virus'?"
Tentatively, they both looked over at the stone, sitting right where Karyn had abandoned it to help 'Joan' with her little 'problem'.
