"I wish that Jon and myself were quietly but officially and properly married to each other as of fifteen minutes ago and had all the official documents to prove it.", Karyn said while holding the rock.
A familiar twitch in their eyes, and Karyn was holding a manila envelope stuffed with papers. "This is it.", she said while opening the envelope in a bit of a scramble. She handed several papers to Jon to hold as she rifled through the envelope. She found the completed marriage license and showed it to Jon with excitement. As he read it, she glanced at the next paper in the stack and was momentarily distracted by the affidavit from her doctor. When she skimmed the doctor's affidavit, she paled and looked back up at Jon, who just then looked up having completed reading the license.
"Jon, I'm pregnant!", Karyn exclaimed, showing him the doctor's affidavit with an expression of shock.
"Wow, that was fast.", Jon quipped, but became more solemn as he read the proffered affidavit.
"Oh. So that's why the judge approved our marriage. Makes sense. Unfortunately, I didn't even get to enjoy the deed.", Jon remarked with a wry expression while pulling Karyn into a caring embrace.
"Later, Jon. I'm pregnant! -- what am I going to do!", Karyn despaired.
"Um "“ you got married right? No problem.", Jon pointed out, not letting go.
"No "“ We can't care for a baby yet -- we both need to finish High School and we've still got another year and a half to go.", Karyn riposted in anguish.
"Well, the rock could help "“ if we dared, but lets think this out carefully first.", Jon replied.
They talked for hours. It was well after dark by the time they had decided what to wish for.
