Melis figured the books might provide some hint as to what the Archmage was up to in his recent research, but she took extra caution before proceeding because wizards were extra cautious in protecting their books. Whispering a couple prayers protection she proceeded with her investigation jumping as a trap spell lashed out at her defenses, but her protective shield held against the attack giving the young cleric a great deal of relief. Gathering herself she continued looking over the shelves of books to see if anything stood out of the ordinary.
The books were all well label to make the easy to find, from shrinking, to animal transformation the books covered a variety of topics. Thankfully but disgustingly, cleaning did not appear to be in the wizard's primary skill set so figuring out what he had been looking at recently was easy. It appeared he had been investigating the legend of a gorgon. It would be a dangerous pastime even for the Archmage to go after a gorgon, but perhaps the treasure of the gorgon's victims had lured him to its lair.
Flipping through the books didn't take long to discover notes indicating the location of a possible gorgon lair hidden in the sea caves far to the south. It would mean traveling to an unfamiliar lands but her oath to the King loomed large in her head. Information on the gorgon itself was sparse and not knowing your opponent was dangerous. Was it better to head directly to the site, investigate this particular gorgon first, or take some precautions against the gaze of the gorgon?
