Joseph stopped and set Julie down right in front of his car so that he could fish his car keys out of his pocket.
"Whoa. Have you been dipping into your chocolate stash," said Joseph as he put his hand on the small of his back pretending that he had back pain, "you seem to have put on a few pounds. Not that I mind because it seems to be in all of the right places." Joseph pointed to Julie's curvaceous backside to illustrate his point.
"Um, no," said Julie, trying hard to make idle chat while her mind was on the whereabouts of the stone. "You know me, I'm just a salad eater. I've gotta watch my figure."
Joseph opened the car door for Julie.
"Yeah, maybe we can use the wishing stone to make it so that you will always stay skinny and good looking no matter how much you eat."
"What?!?" exclaimed Julie.
"You know the wishing stone that you gave me yesterday. The one that your grandfather gave you. Why do you think that I've been so happy today? I can finally make all of my birthday wishes come true. You can be real dense sometimes, Julie, it's a good thing you gave me the stone for safe keeping."
Julie stopped and thought. The stone altered the past so that she had always been Joseph's girlfriend, the type of girlfriend that would be understanding and never keep secrets from him. Secrets like possessing a magic wishing stone. So she showed it to her Joseph yesterday instead of Karyn.
"So where is the stone anyway?" Julie realized that she had to get the stone away from Joseph before he screwed anything else up.
"Oh, I've got it right here in my pocket. Don't worry we'll be using it soon enough."
