A moment later, Lonna Tran made her way out of the bathroom and down the hall to her classroom, but was stopped by one of the other teachers - Mark Winters, a math teacher.
"You should be in class," he said, approaching her.
"I now, Mark, but ..."
"What did you call me?" he asked, seeming to get irritated. "It's Mr. Winters, missy. Show some respect to your elders."
"Wait, what? Mark, I ..." What was he talking about? They were almost the same age.
"That's it," he said, fed up. "I'm taking you to the main office. Maybe the Assistant Principal can get you to show some manners." He grabbed a hold of her arm and began to pull her down the hall with him.
"Mark, what are you doing? Let me go."
"Not unless you apologize to me and get to your class. But don't expect me to give you a note for your teacher. You'll have to take a tardy."
"My teacher? What are you talking about? I am a teacher."
Mark stopped walking and looked at her. "Maybe I should take you to the nurse's office instead. Did you bump your head, or something?" he asked, his irritation changing to concern.
Lauren may have figured out what was happening, but is was taking Lonna a little longer.
