"Wait a minute" said Karyn. "You don't have to."
"What?" replied Amy.
"Anyone who doesn't hear the wish thinks things have always been that way. Your parents think you've always been a girl. Your name's probably really 'Amy' now. You didn't know why you said the name--that's why."
"But you didn't think I was always a girl."
"Because if you had been a girl all along, we'd probably have been dating all along! I wouldn't have just wanted to date you, we'd already have been doing it. The wish couldn't have come true, not the way you meant."
"Karyn... do you really think it's okay?"
"Sure it is" she said, hugging Amy. "And if it isn't, you can still wish for it anyway."
"But Karyn... I don't know the least bit about being a girl, or a lesbian."
"Let me teach you, okay?"
