Karyn had to do something about this. And quick. She grabbed the stone from Jenny and held it in her hand. Jenny got angry and snatched it back. "Give that back!"
Stephanie didn't understand what was so special about some shiny stone. She had more important things to think about. Like where she and her physics teacher were going to "do it". But she was still a little bit intrigued by why Jenny would be so interested in it. She walked over to her and said "See you girls later," and walked off.
"Give me it back, Jenny," Karyn said.
"Wait a minute! It's gone!"
"No joking. Give it back."
"I'm not joking! Uh, Stephanie. She must have taken it."
Karyn looked towards Stephanie walking away and saw her toss the stone up and down in her hand. "You're right! We have to get that back, before ..."
All of a sudden, they felt a ripple of cold air sweep over them, and they knew that something had changed. But since they didn't hear the wish, they had no idea what had changed.
