Getting mad at herself for turning Jon into one of Sarah's ditzy friends, she said aloud, "I wish I was Jenny's best friend," then she turned around to go to her class. She was about to add 'instead of that Sarah McMillan', but the stone flashed before she could say it.
After the flash dissipated, she found herself in a different hallway. Standing beside her was Jenny, who asked, "Sarah, are you okay?"
Karyn all at once realised what had happened. She wished to be Jenny's best friend, and since Sarah was Jenny's best friend, Karyn became Sarah. Except, not completely. She still remembered being Karyn. That was something different. But it seemed that was just about the only thing. She looked, talked, acted, and thought just like Sarah (which was a scary thought). But since she had the memories of Karyn, maybe she wouldn't be exactly like Sarah, after all. One could hope.
She noticed that she had the stone in her hand and thought that maybe she could wish something to undo or at least nearly undo what had happened to her.
After thinking for a moment, she said, "I wish ..."
