The hiking trip went completely without incident. Jon, Karyn, and their friends returned home, with one more day of the five day weekend left before school. They dropped off Karyn at her place, and then Jon at his.
"Hi everyone!" said Jon as he unlocked his door. "I'm home... Mom, Zoe, Mikey..."
Jon's mother was waiting, hugged him, and asked "How was your trip, dear?"
"It was great!" he answered. Going along with the new reality, he added "Nobody found out that I'm a girl, though there was a close call with some Coke."
"That's good," said his mother. "But please whisper it. Would you want your sister or brother to find out that their older brother has been a girl all her life? They could have heard you."
"But they didn't," said Jon.
Zoe came out soon afterwards, but by then the conversation had turned to more innocent matters. Mikey was still at school--he was in grade school, and his school wasn't being fumigated, after all. Soon Jon went up to his room.
Everything's like before, thought Jon. Almost. He dressed like a guy, he was still treated as a guy, people thought of him as a guy. His life was almost the same. Except that he wasn't a guy, and the way reality had changed, it was if he had always been a girl who disguised herself and talked in a deliberately low voice. Only his parents and doctor knew he was really a girl (except Karyn, of course, who knew about the old reality). The stone had restored his previous life as closely as it could.
Only with one big difference between the legs, and a bunch of others, such as breasts (currently bound), body shape (currently hidden as long as he didn't wear tight pants), and hormones. Under the influence of those hormones, he had already found men on TV attractive. He briefly imagined what it would be like going out with a guy. He could use the stone to make sure the guy didn't tell anyone else Jon was a girl. But Jon's mind and memories--which were male--didn't match his hormones and the thought was only brief.
But no matter what he did, he would have to be careful to keep the secret secret. And he might have to use the stone, but he was going to depend on it as little as possible.
So later that day....
