My clothes came back once I becoming a morphic leopard, in good shape, and they now fit well. There was evening an opening for my tail to go through. We passed by other kids as we hurried on to the school but none of them blinked twice -- or even once -- at the sight of a leopard morph with backpack padding along beside Karyn. We arrived at school too late to try to get breakfast -- just in time before classes.
"Wow! It's so odd -- no one's noticed anything different about you." Karyn shook her head as we headed up the front steps. She climbed them, I more or less leapt up them. "You could be a Lovecraftian nightmare, and they'd not care."
I grinned and swished my tail slowly. "It's a strange thing. I almost wish they would notice a little -- it's not as much fun being something unusual if people don't notice.
"Well, they won't notice for this morning, at least! After noon, though -" The class bell rang, interrupting her. "Ooop! Got to run -- see you at lunch!" Karyn turned and dashed off through the other milling students.
"Hey, wait! Karyn!" A few heads turned as I shouted, but only because I was being loud. Blast! She still had the stone in her backpack. Well, I guess I'd just have to trust she wouldn't do anything bad with it until lunch time. Rubbing my pointed, furred ears, which were still ringing from the loud class bell, I hurried off towards my own first class.
I debated with myself the idea of trying out a few more changes of form, but nothing really struck me as something I wanted to be yet. I still hadn't really had any fun seeing what it was like to be a were-leopard. I decided not to worry about it right now -- I'd just enjoy things until I wanted something else.
