During the next lesson Karyn still had her mind on Jon’s problem rather than the lesson. So much so that she almost missed the bell ring for the end of it. She ran outside the school building as fast as she could to find her friend waiting.
Jon was standing just outside the door waiting on her. “Come on we don’t have long” He said grabbing her hand and almost marching her to a more deserted spot. “Come on Karyn what’s your big idea?” the real Karyn asked him. “I have been giving this a lot of thought since last night when mom told me about the wedding. I don’t know your cousin or her family or the rest of yours. So, there is only one way I can think of me going to the wedding and not screwing it up” Jon replied almost in one breath.
“Well?” Karyn asked her friend. “Its simple I need to be Karyn Black.” Jon answered her. “What do mean?” Karyn asked again no closer to understanding than she had been earlier that morning.
“I’ll explain. I need to look like Karyn Black which thanks to your wish everyone thinks I do. I need to act like Karyn Black around people who know her, and I need to know what she knows. So that I can make people who really know Karyn Black think that I am her.” Jon informed his confused friend.
Finally, the light came on in the true Karyn’s head. “Ok then, if that’s what you want that is what you are going to get.” Came Karyn’s reply as she pulled the stone out of her pocket. Jon looked worried seeing his hot-headed friend once more holding the stone and say those terrifying words.
