I froze, and both Karyn and I stared at each other in horror.
'Xander' picked up on the look and looked crest fallen, then angry. Before either Karyn or I could react, Xander grabbed the stone from my hand and backed away. He looked furious and shook the stone in our direction.
"You mean I'm stuck like this forever?" he asked.
I nodded silently, not wanting to provoke him.
His shoulders slumped and he looked down at the stone. He sighed and looked back up.
"I wish..."
