Fortunately the school library was still open. It wasn't hard for Karyn to find Sandra's last name in an old yearbook, and with that, she could look her up in the phone book and get her address.
Karyn knocked on the door. It opened, answered by a half-dressed Sandra. Vacuuming the floor behind her was Jonnie.
"Yes?" said the girl.
"You have something that isn't yours," said Karyn.
"What?" replied Sandra. "Don't tell me you want the magic rock."
"Actually, I do," said Karyn. "But there's something else. Give me that robot."
"What?"
"The robot right behind you. You know the one that looks just like a human girl except that she has a vacuum cleaner plugged into her leg."
Sandra was a little puzzled, but soon figured out what had happened... when she wished for something, it was as though it was real! Now that she wished Jonnie was a robot, everyone thought Jonnie was supposed to be a robot! But, thought Sandra, wouldn't they think Jonnie was supposed to be her robot?
"You know very well the robot belongs to me," said Sandra.
"Don't be an idiot," replied Karyn. "It isn't enough that you go drugging human beings to take them with you, now you took a robot too."
"But she's my robot!"
"Just because you programmed her to think of you as her owner doesn't make you her owner," replied Karyn.
Sandra realized, then, that she never wished Jonnie was hers--Jonnie could think of her as her owner because she stole Jonnie rather than because she really owned her. Anyway, she had to get rid of Karyn. She needed the rock for that. She pushed the door shut and ran away to the dresser where she had put the rock down.
Karyn saw the door pushed in her face and shoved it back. Sandra was running...
"Don't step on that..." said Karyn.
Surprisingly, it worked. Sandra hesitated. "I don't see..." And Karyn gave her a good fist to the jaw. It hurt Karyn's hand, but it gave her a chance to reach the dresser and pick up the magic stone.
And it was all over once Karyn could make wishes. "I wish Sandra was asleep," she said, and Sandra was. "I wish Sandra would forget about the stone... I wish I was home with Jonnie and Jonnie wasn't programmed to obey Sandra."
Karyn walked over to Jonnie, who was still vacuuming, but now vacuuming Karyn's room with her own family's vacuum cleaner. She reached for the location of the power button and turned her off, then on.
Jonniebot v2.20 quickly booted up and became aware of it's surroundings. Jonniebot's powerful CPU processed the information from the robot's sensors. It's visual sensors sent an image in which the CPU recognized a human figure. It identified the woman as 'Karyn'. "Ready to take orders", the machine informed....
