When the flash cleared, as expected, a girl now stood where the boy had been. Turning towards the doorway, she rolled her eyes, "I told you this isn't gonna work. I'm a girl already! This only works on guys, remember?"
"Hm, you're right. I guess we forgot that," came the reply from one of her friends, only in a much higher voice than before. There in the doorway, the group of boys had become a group of girls. Totally oblivious that anything had changed, they filed into the locker room to discuss their next course of action.
"So, now what? If we really want to see if our locker room turns guys into girls, we're gonna need an actual guy."
"Well, duh. But who're we gonna get? Any ideas, Mel?"
"Why don't we go search the halls? If we come across anyone good, we'll take it from there."
"Sounds good. Let's go!"
As the gang of girls ran out, Tomi and Patricia stood staring. "Did you see what I just saw?" Tomi said.
Patricia nodded. "Sure did. So it really is true. But why did those other guys change, too? They weren't even in the room."
"And why didn't they notice anything strange? I mean, I noticed when you changed."
"But I didn't-" Patricia stopped, her eyes widening. "Oh no, it can't be! It sounds crazy, but it's too obvious!"
"What?"
"We're both right! You used to be a guy named Tommy, and I used to be a guy named Patrick! When we changed, we both only remember ourselves being this way, but we notice the difference in the other person. That's why we're so confused!"
Tomi lowered herself down to one of the benches. "I hate to say this, but I think you're right. And I'm the one who pushed you in. Oh, Pat. I'm so sorry!"
Patricia sat down next to her and rubbed the girl's shoulder awkwardly. She felt a bit conflicted. While she had every right to be angry with her friend for effectively forcing a major transformation onto her, she could not even remember what she had lost. As far as she knew, she had always been herself, and she was happy that way. Sighing, she took her friend's hand in her own. "It was all just one big accident for all of us. What's done is done. We just need to focus on how we'll explain this to our families."
Her friend sniffed a bit, but gave her a smile. "Yeah, I can only imagine what they're gonna think about all this." Then, her smile faded. "Uh-oh. What about those other girls who just left? They don't know they used to be guys. And they're planning to throw some other poor guy in here just to experiment. We have to stop them!"
