Then it occurred to Jane. A careless wish erasing her family from existence? No, that wasn't the end of it. She could bring them back. It would just take another wish.
Jane, in her room, got out the paper again and read it carefully. Yup, wishes couldn't be reversed, but she didn't actually ask for her family to disappear, so bringing them back wouldn't reverse what she asked for. Right?
She also noticed something else. The paper was addressed to her. She had thought it was addressed to Jon, but that was just after her body changed; maybe the change took some time and hadn't affected the paper yet. But in the new history, Jon's grandfather--her father, at least in the original history--must have left the stone to her.
Jane put aside those thoughts and concentrated on figuring out how to get her family back. She could make wishes, but she had to be really careful. If she just wished for her children back she might end up a teenager pregnant with triplets. No, there had to be a better way to get her husband and children back, as something at least a little bit like they used to be...
