Jon doubted his mother had ever been so athletic or in shape. It was obvious that the accidental wish had gotten into shape for the strenuous rigors of being a professional cheerleader. She was tanned, muscular, and young. There was something else too...something that Jon hated to notice but he couldn't help it. It looked like she had been enhanced in the chest area!
"OK, this is really messed up! Can't you just wish to be an ordinary mom like you were yesterday?" he asked.
"What're you, like, talking about?" She replied as she began stretching in preparation for her workout "I've wanted to be a cheerleader for, like, as long as I can remember and this is my chance!"
"As long as you can remember.... That's about 5 mins" Jon said under his breath as he watched her stretching but still holding onto the rock. He kept hoping she'd put it down but she didn't.
"If you'd just listen to me and try to pay attention maybe we could get things back to normal?" He said.
"No time" she huffed "I gotta learn these kicks...."
"I see" Joe answered.
"I gotta make the squad! I just wish I was prettier" she said without considering the rock in her hand.
It warmed....
It was hard for Jon to put a finger on just what had changed. Her hair looked a little fuller. Her legs a little longer. Her skin a little smoother. Her body a little more toned. Her eyes a little brighter. Her curves a little more... perfect!
"Great" he said sarcastically "Now you've turned yourself into some kind of super-model cheerleader.
"Well, if it'll, like, help me make the squad then I don't care what I do! You can't be too pretty!"
"Mom, you don't want this! It's that stupid wish! You're too smart to be some kind of an airhead cheerleader!" he pleaded.
She stopped practicing for a second. Maybe Jon was right? Maybe she was too smart to be a cheerleader? She looked back inside toward the TV. They were getting ready to go to commercial and had a close up of 'Missy', one of the current team cheerleaders, smiling at the camera.
"I just want to make the squad" she declared as she firmly grabbed the rock "I wish I had the same as intelligence as her!"
A blank look crossed her face. Then a smile lit up her face. It was a look as if the weight of the world had just left her shoulders. She giggled for no reason.
"This rock is sooooooo cool!" she said "Do you thing I'm pretty? Am I, like, prettier than the other girls?"
"What? Why'd you do THAT? Why'd you wish to be an airhead??? If you wanna be a stupid cheerleader why didn't you just make a wish to be on the squad??" he asked.
"Oh....?? tehetehe ..... I guess I could've... but that wouldn't be, like, fair...would it?" she asked as she bit her lip and pondered the idea as if it was a major decision. "I dunno... I wanna make the squad on my own.... ummmmm m... mar...?? What's that word?"
"Merits?" Jon asked
"Yeah... my own merits. You know, like being pretty!" she replied as she brushed her hair. She giggled some more "I wish I was even prettier!" The rock warmed again... and she laughed absently.
Again the changes were hard to discern but things were different. Her hair took on an even lighter blonde color which complimented her perfectly tanned skin. Her waist appeared smaller. Her teeth were perfect and her smile brighter. Her nails were now longer and perfectly done. Her eyes were now a perfect shade of blue.
"Do ya, like, think my boobs are big enough?" she asked as she absently placed her index finger in her mouth. "Maybe I'm a little too old... maybe they want someone, like, younger...ya know?"
Jon sat down dejected. He'd lost his middleaged mother and had gained a Pony and an airhead cheerleader.
"Maybe I should make another wish.... I wish.... ummmmmmmmm...."
