'That was a big disappointment' said Jon as she returned to her room. 'There isn't a single guy for sale in this entire town;.
'I think "Shopping for boys", was meant to be a metaphor' said Karyn informatively. 'Why did you even consider that there might be a slave market at the mall anyway? It's not exactly common practice is it?
'I don't know. I guess I was just feeling hopeful, that's all. There was always a chance, right?'
'I suppose so' Said Karyn unsurely, 'but it wasn't very likely was it? What do you need the boys for anyway?'
'All sorts of things, research specimens, victims for ceremonial sacrifice, unwitting pawns. You know, the usual stuff.'
Karyn started to feel a little uneasy. 'I don't know' She said. 'It all seems a little odd to me. Still, if you need them that much, why don't you just wish for them? You know, with the stone'.
'Is that even possible?' asked Jon. 'To distil life from the very ether could well be beyond even the stone's great power. What if it were to fail?'
'There's only one way to find out' Thought Karyn with her usual impulsiveness. And she said as much as well.
'I guess you're right' agreed Jon. 'What's the worst that could happen'?
