And so, Karyn watched them. From her vantage point in the trees, she watched her childhood friend make love to this woman. Then they left...only to return later in the company of ten other woman. She didn't know who they were, but they were all polite or friendly to Jon. After sundown, and with the full moon casting a brilliant white light over all, she watched as the twelve women - or, eleven women and Jon - exited the house in white robes with garlands in their hair. They sang a strange song, sort of a nursery rhyme about the moon, and the Goddess, and of undying sisterhood. They mentioned Sappho several times, and she heard Jon's high, lovely voice raised in kind with the woman. They sang, then the procession ended in the garden...and they started to dance.
"Wiccans..." thought Karyn "...of a sort. Some kind of...lesbian coven of something? They sang...and Jon joined in, sometimes stumbling slightly over the words...but always singing with the others. Jon was clearly a willing participant in the farce, and when they stopped, Sue Golden called "I stand before the Goddess! I am Athena, before the Goddess!"
The Jon stepped up, her eyes shining with more purpose and fire than she'd expected "I stan' before th' Goddess! I'm Dryad before th' Goddess!"
They continued around with the silly pagan role call, each replying that they were "Diana" or "Lilith" or "Pegasus" or whatever. It was silly as heck, but her friend was in there, being manipulated by this...bizarre dyke cult!
After that, they got down to the sex. They split off into pairs, and they got down and dirty among the flowers and the statuary. She watched with disbelief as Jon and Sue began to do almost exactly what they'd done earlier that day. This was SICK!
And...she'd have to put an end to it. She had almost puzzled out what had happened to him. He might have slipped up and let Sue see him using the stone, and then Sue got it away from him, and...
...and...whatever. It wasn't important. What was important was finding the stone, and getting Jon back to something like normal. But how?
(the next day)
"Like, Hi. What's your name?"
Karyn was so startled that she spun about comically, causing Jonnie to giggle girlishly. When she stopped, she looked Karyn up and down...than seemed to remember again that Karyn was trespassing. At least, it looked as if she was, as she was in Sue's backyard, and that wasn't right...was it?
"Uh...so who're you again, huh? I don' member you from...like, anyplace. You a friend of Suzie's?"
It was Jon. As feminine as he was - had become - he was still Jon around the edges of the face. You just had to know where to look.
He'd come out of nowhere, and she'd been convinced that Jon must have been sleeping in...before he stepped out of the shed with her favorite chez lounge. She'd stood in the dark for at least three-minutes, puzzling over whither to use the red lounge, or the green one. She liked both colors...but it was so hard to decide! She'd finally settled on red...and boom, she meets this strange girl.
And she WAS just a girl. This stranger couldn't be older than 17, and Jonnie knew that she herself was 23, because Suzie had told her that. Suzie told her all sorts of things!
"Me...well...I'm...a new member of our...sisterhood."
Jon's face was suddenly aglow with delight. "Aw, praise th' Goddess, sister! What's your secret name, huh? I'm Dryad. Ain't that a cool name?"
Karyn thought it was silly, but...she'd have to play along.
"I'm...uh, She-Ra, Princess of Power."
Jonnie almost swooned in delight. "That's jus' totally AWESOME!!! I mean, tha's th' coolest name EVER! You ROCK sister! Why, th' Goddess mus' LOVE you so much!"
Karyn looked around, then decided to take the risk. She'd have to try sooner or later.
"Yep, the Goddess is my copilot, alright. Now...Sue said for me to come over and pick up something for her. It's a rock, but it's painted all sorts of colors..."
(hours later)
SHIT! Karyn had looked up one side of the house and down the other, having convinced Jonnie (or "Dryad") that because she was "She-Ra, Princess of Power" she needed to get the stone for Sue. She'd spent hours looking in the obvious places...but finally had to accept that Sue must have the stone with her. What was she going to do now? Should she try to waylay the woman - perhaps stealing her purse and hoping the stone is there?
Jonnie tapped Karyn on the shoulder, then handed her a glass of iced tea.
"Do you think Suzie will understan' that we can't find this rock or whatever? I mean, she's gonna be home in like...any minute or so."
Karyn sighed, sipped her tea, and looked at her friend. Her best friend in the world...now a huge-breasted bimbo lesbian wiccan! How could she just leave him like this? She had to do SOMETHING!
