Derek could have sworn Jon looked paler than normal, but maybe it was the light he told himself; it was starting to get dark so maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him.
Jon gave him a friendly smile and said “Actually, why don’t you come in for a bit and lay low?”
“I couldn’t,” replied Derek, taken off guard by the act of kindness, “I wouldn’t want to be a bother.”
“You wouldn’t,” answered Jon, flicking his hair from his eyes “Besides we don’t know each other as well as we could and I wouldn’t mind changing that.”
“Really?”
“Really?” Jon flicked his hair again and headed for the back door.
Derek followed frowning, when did Jon grow his hair out? It was shaggy, sure, but not long enough to get into his eyes. He shrugged thinking he must have been mistaken, maybe Jon had grown it out over the break and Derek had only just noticed.
“This way,” said Jon, leading him inside.
