Johniee felt dwarfed by the huge bull elephant in the courtyard that the trainers were struggling to control. Johniee turned to face him directly. In this form, her eyesight was worse and her peripheral vision greatly reduced. Johniee's male human mind was finding it difficult to cope with all of the changes.
Rex, the bull elephant, trumpeted and brushed aside the trainers. Jarek leaped off Johniee's back as the bull trotted toward Johniee. She noticed that his head seemed swollen and a deep, earthy odor was eminating from Rex. She tentatively stretched her trunk toward him to get a better scent.
From a safe distance, Jarek watched the bull move to claim his new cow Pearl for his harem. The mystery of the new elephant was not solved, but this at least had resolved the problem of the powerful bull entering musth. Already the pairing was beginning to calm him.
Johniee was uncomfortable with the bull's attentions. He was brushing her sides, herding her, running his trunk over her and taking her scent. Most embarassing of all, Rex kept prodding her from behind. She tried to move away, but he followed, herding, and it was hard to think ... that musky smell was making her dizzy.
