"Wish for me to be alive!" said Jon.
"What?"
"I thought the whole point of the dead body wish was that you could bring me to life without reversing the wish that Jon is dead."
"But I already did that, Jon. I wished that 'this Jon is alive'. So you must be alive already."
"I don't have a pulse. And I'm not breathing."
"Well, obviously, you're something which is alive, but doesn't have a pulse or breathe."
"But... what kind of thing is like that? There isn't anything which is alive but doesn't have a pulse or breathe. Well, maybe a plant, but a plant doesn't have two arms and legs. And it's green."
"I don't get it," said Karyn. "That's impossible..."
Jane used her own stone and said "I wish I knew what Jon is supposed to be." A moment later, she said "You have to be kidding."
"What am I?" asked Jon.
"People still think you're my brother, but really, you're a plant."
"So why do I have two arms and legs, and why am I not green and rooted in the ground?"
Jane asked, "You watch sci-fi like I do, right, Jon?"
"Sure I do, Jane."
"The pod people in Invasion of the Body Snatchers weren't green. Neither was Ficus in Quark. Neither are the Mangaboos."
"The what?"
"They were in one of the Wizard of Oz books."
"I never got that far. I was young then and didn't want to keep reading them, because the main character is a girl... I guess this is one of the ways you're different from me. You're a girl, so you wouldn't have stopped reading them."
"One of us ought to wish Jon to human," said Karyn. "We never wished he wasn't human, we should be able to make him human."
"Yeah," said Jane.
But suddenly Jon said "I feel funny... I think that I..."
