Something felt off about Zoe. But just slightly.
It wasn’t her wardrobe, though, that was mostly black as ever. It was something behind her eyes. She was giving him strange look that he had never gotten from Zoe before. She seemed eager. Desperate. But for what?
A thought crossed Jon’s mind. Maybe he already was something interesting to look at? A swell of unfamiliar feelings tingled up from his chest. Brittany-Lynne warned him about that too. Even for the briefest of seconds, Zoe’s slack-jawed surprise and amazement fired off Jon’s pleasure centers with pride. His physiology must be changing too. She was his sister, but it almost felt like she was his fan, too. Appraising him. Enthralled by him? This was what he wanted, right? Being a pro cheerleader meant saying goodbye to being a wallflower at events and parties and hello to being the center of attention everywhere he went. Even his own hallway at home.
God Zoe was getting weird. Jon rolled his eyes and made a bee-line to his bedroom. And jumped in front of the full length mirror he got from Sarah, nearly forgetting that he was just in front of a different mirror a minute ago before realizing the football game was on. He got into bed and flipped on the TV.
