Jon and Karyn continued searching for several hours, until they finally decided to give up for now.
"You want something to eat, Karyn?" Jon asked his friend, wincing at the sound of his new voice.
"Sure, I didn't eat before I came over. What do you have?"
Jon opened the fridge, and then the freezer, cubboards, and pantry. "Crap, there's not really anything here. Unless you like canned soup." He turned back towards her. "You want to go out to eat?"
"Sure, how's Chinese sound?"
He shrugged. "Sounds great, I love Chinese food." However, something felt wrong. He looked over and noticed that his once broad shoulders had narrowed considerably. "On, on second thought, I think I'm going to stay home," he stuttered.
"Oh." Slightly disappointed, Karyn had been wanting to go to a new Chinese Buffet that had just opened. "Well, how about we order out, then?"
Jon agreed, and Karyn placed their orders. They put in a movie, and shortly afterwards, the doorbell chimed. Karyn started to get up, but Jon motioned her down, temporarily forgetting his predicament. "I'll get it." He pulled a twenty out of his wallet and walked up to the door.
